Covid-19 & Working Practice

2020 Update

What a year 2020 has been! I am aware that all of us have been affected in many ways by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic this year. People from all walks of life have had to make changes to not just working practice but also many aspects of the way they themselves live. I know from personal experience that our household has made many adjustments to help accommodate a member in the 'extremely vulnerable'category. Therefore it has not been up until July 2020 that I have felt able to even investigate face to face appointments! On a personal level I would like to express how much I have missed being able to offer you the treatments that you know or love.

Since March 2020 I have been working remotely with Block Clearance Therapy with clients old and new via Zoom, Skype or Whatsapp - whichever of these was chosen as most comfortable by the client. Since investigating and risk assessing the risk mitigations involved with in-person work, as much as I am looking forward to seeing you all in person again, if you are able to (and comfortable) to use Zoom I would welcome that. I know working remotely may seem impersonal but it does not detract from what can be accomplished through Block Clearance Therapy. Indeed, I have and am still receiving some fantastic and humbling feedback about client progress from these sessions.

Block Clearance Therapy - In Person Appointments

The guidance during the current lockdown state that appointments for mental health purposes may still continue.
My priority as a therapist is to keep you as safe as possible. Before resuming in-patient work I have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course which is accredited by the Guild of Holistic Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for the holistic industry and have also consulted government advice. If you are coming in for an in-person session, I will be implementing some safety measures which will create a number of changes in the way that I usually practise in order to help mitigate risk from Covid-19. The arrangements below apply to in-person appointments only.

*When Booking : You will be asked if if you or any member of your household feel ill or display any symptoms of Covid-19 and I will need to ask you this question again on the day of your appointment. If this does happen after booking please advise me as soon as possible and DO NOT COME in for your appointment. Likwise if I or any member of my household falls ill I will be self-isolating with immediate effect and will not be holding face to face appointments. I am aware that this may mean a cancellation of appointment at short notice which may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety and this is also in line with current guideance.
If your appointment is cancelled, by you or me, you will be able to re-book again after the relevant period of quarantine, at a time of your convenience.

*Appointment Times - For your safety and to maintain social distancing, I ask that you attend your appointment as close to the appointment time as possible. As part of the risk assessment process I will text you the day before your appointment to ask if you have been experiencing any new health symptoms in the previous 24 hours. During your visit please be mindful that I will be required to retain your contact details for NHS Track & Trace purposes (for 21 days).
Please note that I have also suspended booking charging terms and conditions for any appointments which you miss due to illness or the need to isolate with less than 24 hours notice.

*Hygeine: I have increased the frequency of cleaning in my therapy area and I have made hand sanitiser available for you to use.

*PPE- I will be understanding and encouraging if you wish to wear a facemask and/or wear disposable gloves when you visit for your appointment, if is this is appropriate for you.
Please do not be surprised or upset if I am using personal protective equipment (PPE) during your visit. This may include disposable gloves, and a facemask and/or visor as is appropriate.

*After the treatment - In order to avoid the handling of cash, I would prefer if you could pay for your treatment by Debit card, BACS or Paypal.

All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and mine, in line with current advice, and I will continue to follow advice from the Government and my therapy association regarding safe and best practice during this time.

Finally, I would like to work with you to make your treatment not just as safe as possible but also as comfortable and enjoyable as possible too... So if you have any concerns about any aspect of the treatment process please let me know and I will do what I can to accommodate you.
